7 tips for planning a successful event
Events that are looking for a theme around which to build a new attraction would do well to look at a Hawaiian surfing theme.
But before jumping into the water, consider the factors upon which this seemingly no-brainer of a recommendation, how many events were found with the larger theme still sounding a participation of small or, perhaps worse, a large crowds find themselves bored and wondering what to do next.
There are a number of elements which, when incorporated in an event to help make a winner from the point of advertising through very late hour, when the last guests finally said that they really leave. These elements are the same whether it's a night of casino, Party, or ho-down yard. These are the elements that often make or break your event.
To a large extent, these elements are the same when planning for the shows when your success depends on making people stop to show off the scores of others competing for their attention. After all, we all know the feeling of a cabin crew, where the only people in it are the repercussions from the cabin next door, is not it?
Give 'Em A Theme!
An event without a strong theme is nothing more than a function. Not bad at all, but hardly the thing that makes memories. The road to excitement begins when the event is not a people are curious and even enthusiastic and engaging themes will play an important role in determining the level of interest! So, where do you start?
Give 'em something exotic!
People in Boise, Idaho, could not get too excited about a night in the Midwest Barbeque, but those of us here in the islands who have never ridden a wagon load of hay would delight corn on the cob and pulled-pork off spit in between throwing horseshoes and cow dung chips.
At the same time, offer our friends in the Midwest the opportunity to enter a great contest surfing, while their lei-clad friends with Mai-tais in hand to cheer for them and have the first element of a successful event - a taste of the exotic!
Exotic is really all that is refreshingly different from what we are accustomed us. Our ability to offer our guests something that puts them at another time or place for those few hours will determine who are with us the excitement and the event is appealing to them.
Give 'Em a challenge!
Horseshoes, cook-your-own, surf competitions, craps, poker, blackjack, and dance lessons are all one offered in common - the ability for your guests to engage in a challenge ... not so much between them, but with the activity. This is a key element for instant camaraderie that allows your guests a common theme and exciting to talk about.
Selection of activities is essential and the best are those that are fun to see how they do! Consider walking into a conference room and listen to people screaming and laughing in contrast with the muted hum of words reflective of your cocktail parties ranked high and you have the difference between a task and an event!
Give 'Em A Setting They will talk!
Imagine walking into your event site and find the hay all over the floor ... or sand ... or discarded peanut shells. The setting that you create is what allows you to take your guests will find somewhere lovely --- simply because it is so different from the setting to the left when entering the room. Elements such as coconut trees, barns, and real live barbecue pits are all they are worth their weight in gold when combined with food, activities, and entertainment that connects with the theme!
Settings that provide photo-opportunities ... seven meters tiki stool Paul Bunyan, a blackjack dealer or uniform, and a table are all elements that encourage your guests to pose for photos inside of your event. This is your best advertisement for future event planning contracts and delight your guests, at the same time.
Give 'Em Food and Drink With A Flair!
While everyone knows to serve Mai-Tais and pineapple smoothies in a Hawaiian themed event, you can also get a bit 'of price rather ordinary administered a dose of creativity. Hot dog served with Hawaiian, tropical flavored snow cones, and some coconut-crusted shrimp fried foods are not Hawaiian, but will draw raves from your guests the same!
Also in this case, the rule is simple. You could call the disruptive positioning, a strategy in which you present your guests with something pretty close to family so that you still like to take them out quite different from that same area of familiarity.
Give 'Em Something to take home!
The events are more memorable when a take-home item is offered ... especially when your guests are unlikely to have one already! How many do you know with your tiki keychain, necklace shark tooth, or Tahitian pareo? The more diverse your event is, the easier it is to find something unique, like a gift.
For events with good photo-opportunities due to settings or attractions, the photos are a good one to give away as nothing. And, exhibitors will also appreciate the opportunity to exchange interesting gifts for leads, too!
Write 'Em Up!
After the event, take advantage of any extra publicity can be generated, as in-house press releases or photos to share with the companies or sites available online. Chances are slim that one of the media will take your event, but the sponsors would probably be only too happy to advertise anything you can share the news event - the winners, candid shots, messages from clients, etc. After all, the successful event that was planned their success, too!
Anyone Surf?
So now, maybe you're ready to jump into the water with a surf-Hawaiian theme of the event. For those of us who live in Hawaii, pulling out a thrilling event theme Hawaii is like trying to sell a saltwater fish. However, with the addition of a single device like the surf simulator video, you have something that will appeal to everyone from little old lady from Pasadena to the hardcore surfer and his brother in Kalamazoo!
The surf simulator video is a patented device that allows the "rider" to manipulate a real surfboard to control its counterpart on the screen. With truly mimicking the action and wave-riding maneuvers real simulator surfing surf video offers the closest thing to surfing out of the water. Combined with a large projector screen video surf simulator becomes a traffic stop attraction that no one can lose let alone pass.
By offering guests the opportunity to participate in a contest simulator surf videos Surf meets the exotic, the challenge, and the aspects of setting that will make for a great event. Combine that with photo opportunities and pre-event publicity and the majority of event planners will be easy to develop the rest of the elements that make the event one that designs, maintains, and we talk.
So wherever your event may be considering a Hawaii surfing theme. If this is a big attraction in the islands, consider the impact it would have somewhere in the heart!
Aloha! ......
