Those lucky enough to visit Madrid this fall will have the opportunity to attend the first retrospective in Spain of French painter Henri Fantin-Latour, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon and will be held on September 29 and January 10 next year. Art lovers should not miss the first opportunity to see the work of the painter born in 1836, and shares the aesthetic of his contemporaries Manet, Degas and Whistler. Unlike these, the work of Fantin-Latour did not go down in history as one of the pioneers of modern art. According to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, this exhibition attempts to "do justice? and show his true talent to the world with an exhibition of more than 70 of his works, which include oil paintings and drawings which have been taken from museums and collections around the world on the occasion of the exhibition: from group portraits, family or friends, interiors with figures and still lifes of vocation realistic allegories and fantasies through music. The exhibition can be viewed from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 19.00.
General admission is € 7, or € 6 if purchased online. Over 65 years, pensioners, students with ID and large families are entitled to reduced admission (4.5 €). Admission is free for children under 12 years and citizens legally unemployed. Advance ticket sales at the box office or on the Museum website.
