Jack Welch - Success Is Getting Back Up on the horse

A few months ago I had the opportunity to spend a few minutes with Jack Welch, past CEO of GE. A fantastic opportunity.

Some of the things he said about who to hire and what they are looking at the general manager of the house struck by what I'm telling clients, and what I am telling my teen leadership group (our Rising Stars program).

The best coaches are not perfect but they continue to return to the Horse

Jack Welch - "We seek people who are not perfect people who have made mistakes, but he knows how to get back quickly on the horse when they were thrown out, and those that turn around the loss into a win .. This is not no mistake , is to go back and go forward to the results. If someone has never experienced the fall and showed their ability to stand up may not be the leaders we want. "" Leadership is about results, not experience, not the ' education, or any of the other things that the claims of all is leadership. It is
Be able to provide consistantly results,
Being able to retrieve the horse to fall,
And geting right back up to get results in the final analysis. "

And 'well in line with what I keep telling my clients and my youth group leaders I work with. The path to your destination is almost never a straight line. There will be a zig zag, side trips and backtracking.

Too many people slip off the path, and just walk away saying they have just failed. The winners are those who learn from what took them off the trail, understand how to get back on the path, and constantly struggling to maintain the target even with the setbacks.

Failure is a Choice - Choose to win

You only fail once - when you say that you have .... and QUIT.

When this happens there is only one guaranteed outcome - Failure. This makes the failure of a choice. Those who choose not to get back to choose to be victims.

Those that win choose to go back on the horse, get back on the path to long trudge toward the goal ....
